Our very own Dave Kostecka recently had the opportunity to go on The Clean Air Show with TJ Fantini. They discussed UV air purifiers, indoor air quality, and removing allergens and other contaminants from your home. You can watch the video or read the transcript below:
Introducing DuctVac Dave and The Clean Air Show
TJ Fantini:
This is The Clean Air Show, I’m TJ Fantini, and I am excited to be here with my friend DuctVac Dave from DuctVac Northwest. How’s it going, Dave?
Dave:
It’s going great, TJ. How about yourself?
TJ Fantini:
I’m doing pretty good. What did you bring? What is in that box that you brought in for us today?
Dave:
Well, this is a UV air purifier for your home.
TJ Fantini:
A UV air purifier, like as in cleaning the air with light?
Dave:
Like cleaning the air with light, yup, with UV light.
Why and How to Use UV Air Purifiers
TJ Fantini:
So what would I use that for in my house? Because I’ve been stuck in my house for a while now, and my air is kind of stagnant.
Dave:
Yours and most everyone else around the Skagit Valley, let me tell you. So yes, we’ve been locked in our houses for so long and we’ve been just re-circulating this air. It’s become dirty, musty, moldy. Of course, we’re all concerned about viruses and allergens. And so, what this does, is it helps purify, removes those from the home, those bacteria and viruses.
TJ Fantini:
So, how many of these do I have to get for my house like that? I mean, do I need one for every room?
Dave:
Well, I’d love to say yes, but the reality is no, you only need one.
TJ Fantini:
You only need one.
Whole House UV Air Purifiers and Allergens
TJ Fantini:
Okay. Let me ask you because I heard you say something about allergens. You know, my fiancee has quite severe allergies. So, is that something that’s going to completely clear out her allergies?
Dave:
Well, it’s removing one piece of the pie. So, when I explain it to customers on the phone, picture a piece of pie, I have eight different slices. A lot of people are affected by many different types of allergens and molds. And what we’re doing is removing one piece of that. There might be other things that people are affected by that we may not help you with, but again, just helping you out with one section.
TJ Fantini:
Yeah, so this is a pretty new technology, right?
Dave:
Well, it actually has been around for a little while, but certainly with what we’ve all gone through the last three months, it certainly has been brought to the forefront.
UV Air Purifiers and Ozone Production
TJ Fantini:
Awesome. And let me ask you this too, ozone. I know that sometimes with the purifiers that you can get, there’s a lot of ozone that they can put off. This is a pretty high tech piece of equipment. What are we looking at as far as ozone rate for this light?
Dave:
Sure. There is no off-gassing, there is no ozone. I don’t know if you noticed, but when you walk into a house that has a room air purifier, those do produce ozone, I notice it right away when I walk into a home, these do not produce ozone.
TJ Fantini:
Wow. So, you’re going to clean my air, you’re going to help clear my fiancee’s allergies and no ozone in the house?
Dave:
And no odor.
TJ Fantini:
So, will you bring one of those next time you come to the house for me please?
Dave:
Absolutely.
TJ Fantini:
All right, I appreciate it. We’re here again with DuctVac Dave from DuctVac Northwest and if you want your air to be even cleaner, give him a call or visit his website, DuctVac Northwest today.
