How Does APCO UV Air Purification Work?

The UV Air Purification system is installed by Duct Vac NW Professionals in the ductwork of the central air system. It filters and cleans the air with a unique combination of UV-C light and activated carbon, which provides unmatched germ and odor reduction without producing any harmful ozone. APCO air purification is especially effective in reducing odor-causing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which include toxic chemical vapors like formaldehyde.

APCO UV Air Purification Benifits

Airborne contaminants are commonly divided into three categories.

  1. Particulates
  2. Odors/VOCs
  3. Molds/Germs

Conventional filtration systems are effective against particulates, like dust, but have no effects on odors/VOCs or molds or germs. The APCO UV Air Purification system is proven to safely reduce both VOCs and biological contaminants, both inside the air system and throughout the entire home.

APCO UV Air Purification Video on The Clean Air Show

The Clean Air Radio Show Transcript

TJ Fantini: The clean air show. I’m TJ Fantini, and I am excited to be here with my friend DuctVac Dave from DuctVac Northwest. How’s it going, Dave?

Dave: It’s doing great, TJ. How about yourself?

TJ Fantini: I’m doing pretty good. What did you bring in? What is in that box that you brought in for us today?

Dave: Well, this is a UV air purifier for your home.

TJ Fantini: A UV air purifier, as in cleaning the air with light?

Dave: Cleaning the air with light. Yep. With UV light.

TJ Fantini: So what would I use that for in my house? Because you know, I’ve been stuck in my house for a while now and my air is kind of stagnant.

Dave: Yours and most everyone else around the Skagit Valley, let me tell you. So yes, we’ve been locked in our houses for so long and we’ve been just recirculating this air. It’s been dirty, musty, mold, and of course, we’re all concerned about viruses and allergens. And so what this does is it helps purify, removes those from the home, the mold, bacteria, viruses.

TJ Fantini: So how many of those do I have to get from my house? I mean, is that… Do I need one for every room?

Dave: Well I’d love to say yes, but the reality is no, you only need one.

TJ Fantini: You only need one. Okay. And let me ask you, because I heard you say something about allergens. My fiance has quite severe allergies. So is that something that’s going to completely clear out her allergies?

Dave: Well, we’re moving one piece of the pie. So, when I explain it to customers on the phone. Picture, a piece of pie, you have eight different slices. A lot of people are affected by many different types of allergens and molds. And what we’re doing is removing one piece of that. There might be other things that people are affected by that it may not help you with, but again, just helping you out with one section.

TJ Fantini: Yeah. So this is a pretty new technology, right?

Dave: Well, it actually has been around for a little while, but certainly, with what we’ve all gone through the last three months, it certainly has been brought to the forefront.

TJ Fantini: Awesome. And, let me ask you this too. Ozone, I know that sometimes with the purifiers that you can get, there’s a lot of ozone that they can put off. This is a pretty high-tech piece of equipment. What are we looking at as far as ozone rate for this light?

Dave: Sure. There is no off-gassing. There is no ozone. I don’t know if you notice, but when you walk into a house that has a room air purifier, those do produce ozone. I notice it right away. When I walk into a home, these do not produce ozone.

TJ Fantini: Wow. So you’re going to clean my air. You’re going to help clear my fiance’s allergies, and, no ozone in the house?

Dave: And no odor.

TJ Fantini: So, will you bring one of those next time you come to the house for me please?

Dave: Absolutely.

TJ Fantini: All right. I appreciate it. We’re here again with DuctVac Dave from DuctVac Northwest. And if you want your air to be even cleaner, give him a call or visit his website, DuctVac Northwest today.

APCO Whole House UV Purifer FAQs

How does the APCO Whole House Air Purifier compare to traditional air filtration systems?
Traditional air purifiers fall into two categories, free-standing units and whole house units, both of which use traditional air filters to catch particles as air flows through the filter. This means that the older the filter gets, the less effective it is in catching the harmful particles flowing through your home.

The APCO Whole House Air Purifier uses a combination UV-C light and activated carbon to scrub the air of particles, neutralize odors and remove mold and germs. Since APCO does not use a traditional filter, it offers consistent air quality, day after day, regardless of the season. Additionally, the APCO system removes harmful ozone, which other, traditional air purifiers can omit.

What does the APCO Whole House Air Purifier remove?

APCO Air Purifiers remove:

  • Dust
  • Chemicals
  • Mold Spores
  • Pet Odors
  • Cooking odors
  • Germs
  • Viruses
  • Tobacco Smoke
  • Allergens
How does the APCO Whole House Air Purifier stack up in the HVAC industry?

APCO’s unique UV purification system is a winner of the prestigious AHR Innovation Award, the highest honor in the HVAC industry!

What are the requirements to have the system installed?

There are several APCO models, designed to fit all types of air systems, which all use the same award-winning technology. The HVAC experts at Duct Vac NW will recommend the best option for your home.

What are other benefits of APCO Whole House Air Purifier?

The UV-C light in APCO works just as well at keeping AC coils clean. Dirty coils shorten the life of the air system and reduce energy efficiency. UV-C light kills mold and reduces the need for system maintenance.
